Pregnancy Tests FAQ

How accurate is the test?
Our tests are purchased in Hamilton, ON from a medical laboratory. They are 99% accurate when administered 7 to 10 days after possible conception.

Can I have a retest if my test is negative and my period doesn’t start?
Yes, you may reschedule for another test.

Should I see a doctor if I have a second negative test and have not started my period?
If you have concerns about missed periods and your pregnancy test continues to be negative, you should see your health care provider for assessment. If you need resources for health care, CPRC can provide you with referrals.

What Now?

The test is positive… breathe… you are not alone.

It’s important that you don’t rush into anything, but take time to make an educated decision.

You have choices. Some choices you might feel don’t apply to you, but you need to look at the long-term
effects of your choice. Rushed decisions can lead to deep regret later on.

The CPRC is here to help you sort through your thoughts and feelings.

Post-Abortion Recovery Education

Following an abortion, women may feel empty and alone.  The memories of an abortion can be difficult to face and women may experience anger, depression and loneliness.

Staff and volunteers at the centre have extensive training on the impact of abortion and the issues women face in recovery following an abortion. The centre has the desire to see clients find healing, hope and wholeness.
